How Your Excuses Are Standing In The Way Of You Getting What You Want

If you want something you need to be honest with yourself about it and start working on a plan to attain it. Especially if you know that whatever it is will make you healthier or a better person then you need to start making the necessary steps to go beyond your excuses. Of course, there will be obstacles on the way and yes, there will be some uncomfortable things as you go for your goal; the road will not be smooth or entirely easy to go through but you will find it to be worth it in the long run.
  • Take something that you have been wanting to do, but have not really been successful at accomplishing or something that you have not gotten better at doing or that you just haven’t been prioritizing as you should have
  • Take a pen or pencil and a piece of paper
  • Start writing down all the reasons why you are not doing, don’t do or have not been especially successful in getting this particular thing done so far.
  • Don’t stop until you have written down at least 10 reasons. Be real with yourself by writing down everything that you have been telling yourself or others concerning why you have not yet done it or why you are not as successful or consistent as you would like to be. Dig deep within yourself.
If you look at your list you will probably find that some of your excuses are poor or not necessarily justifiable and then there will be some reasons that are actually true or actually make it especially difficult to go after what you want. However, the more difficult it is to go for your goal, the more rewarding the results will be. Start sorting through your excuses and reasons as seeing them written on paper will more often than not help you get a better perspective of the situation at hand. Putting it off does not make it any easier because the longer you wait to commit, get help, tackle it, or attempt a new method of getting something done, the harder it gets to do it. If whatever you are doing or are not doing as you work towards your goal is not working for you, then it may be time to start doing something different or doing things differently. You may be unsure or a little afraid, but this only means that now is the best time to reach out and get some assistance from someone. All you need to have is a plan, commitment, accountability for yourself, a brand new focus, a partner to assist you or do it with or just a little push.
