DIY Mud Pack

Authored By Kristen
National Mud Pack Day is an "unofficial holiday" celebrated annually in the United States on September 30th. Mud Packs or Mud Masks as they are sometimes called, can help draw out impurities in the skin as well as help to clear up any issues that you may have with your skin such as acne, oily skin, dry skin, aging, or even eczema. Nutrient packed mud can clean the skin and replace minerals as well. If you'd like to partake of the benefits of a mud pack and have some fun enjoying National Mud Pack Day, perhaps you can invite your friends over and throw a Mud Pack Party! You can also simply de-stress and unwind alone in your bathtub or watching Netflix while your skin is nourished. However, there is simply no need to spend money on expensive mud treatments at spas or by purchasing pricey mud masks in the store or online when you can make your own DIY Vegan Mud Pack at home. The ingredients you need are easy to find and quite inexpensive, and your vegan mud pack will be ready in under ten minutes. You can celebrate National Mud Pack Day in the privacy of your own home, be it alone or with friends.

Depending on your skin concerns, various ingredients can be added to make a wonderful mud pack, but a good, basic mask that you can make includes clay, coconut oil, strawberry, banana, and turmeric. You probably have all but the clay already in your kitchen, which makes this a simple and fun mask to make. You can find clay at natural food or vitamin stores, as well as online. Each of the ingredients in this Vegan Tropical Mud Pack serve a purpose in beautifying the skin. The salicylic acid in strawberries helps to clear up acne/pimples/blemishes, while the Vitamin C brightens dark spots. Additionally, strawberries contain many other vitamins and minerals, which nourish and brighten the skin. Coconut oil is a wonderful moisturizer due to its high composition of saturated fat. For this reason, coconut oil will help to prevent dry skin. Coconut oil also helps to prevent acne and help clear up eczema due to its anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties. It also helps to give this mud pack a fabulous fragrance. Kaolin clay is a mineral, and due to its mineral and phyto-nutrient content, it draws out any impurities and toxins present in the skin. The mineral content helps to nourish the skin as well. Kaolin clay is also called China clay, White clay, White Cosmetic clay, Hydrated Aluminum Silicate, and Kaolinite clay. It is wonderful for skin detoxifying and cleansing. The clay has a high silica content, which helps remove dead skin. Kaolin clay can help with issues like muscle soreness and aches/pains, inflammation, small cuts, bruises, boils cold sores, and insect bites. This can make your mud pack wonderful for an after workout remedy on other body parts like your back, legs, and shoulders as well! This clay helps encourage and enhance blood circulation, which helps with the healing and detoxifying process, while brightening the skin at the same time. Bananas contain astringent properties, which means that it balances the oils in the skin. Bananas also nourish and rejuvenate the skin because they are quite hydrating and full of vitamins and minerals. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory root, which both reduces any inflammation of the skin such as blemishes/pimples, as well as provides the skin with anti-microbial and anti-bacterial benefits. Turmeric not only helps with inflammation, but also helps to clear acne scars and reduces oil secretion by the sebaceous glands. Turmeric has also been known to reduce the signs of aging skin. The ingredients in this facial mask/mud pack will help to cleanse, brighten, moisturize, and clear your skin. Treat yourself well with this vegan mud pack.
